Building Custom Furniture

When Keith and I first bought our house three years ago, I dreamt of a long farmhouse-style dining table that could fit large groups of friends and family for all the dinner parties and holidays I was sure we would host. When I started shopping around town for farmhouse tables, I was surprised at how much they cost, so I convinced Keith that using Ana White plans, we could build our own. And that's exactly what we did.

Of course, every good farmhouse table needs an attractive matching bench to pair with it, which is the second piece of furniture Keith and I built together. We've built and customized several other pieces since, but to this day, that table remains my favorite. It has hosted countless dinner parties and a few family holidays in just three short years. Two of my brothers and my brother-in-law have sat on that bench together (and it held strong!) and I love being able to tell guests that was a labor of love and sweat. In the past year, one of my brothers that lives nearby also started building furniture for his home and family. A few months ago, I told him we should start selling our pieces, and earlier today we opened our first Etsy shop F2 Furniture

My brother, husband and I will now be selling custom Texas-made benches, lofted bunk beds, farmhouse tables and pallet desks. In the next few months, we also plan to add coffee and side tables to our shop. I'm really excited to start this new project with my family and am hoping to start seeing some of our pieces in our own friends and family's homes.

I look forward to sharing more pictures and stories of this new adventure over the coming months. In the meantime, please check out our shop and share with your Texas-based friends. Now I'm headed back outside for more yard work and am looking forward to sharing some exterior home updates with you all soon. Thanks for reading!
