Being Brave & Healthy

As I shared in an earlier post, I started taking barre classes at a local studio this month and thought I would share a quick update. It's my latest attempt at adding more strength training to my fitness regime, and I was also hoping it would improve my running. It's only been a little over two weeks, and I've only been going about twice a week, but I'm not completely enamored.

I'm a cardio person - I love kickboxing, running, spin class, hiking, etc. But strength training is definitely not my favorite (is it anyone's?). I've also been having a difficult time balancing getting back into long runs and having the energy to then do a class that involves a lot of leg work, so I'm a little stuck on where to go next with the strength training.

Keith and I have been researching weight benches and home gym equipment lately, thinking that once the sunroom is fixed (next week!) that we might convert that room from a dog space to a gym. If that becomes a reality, maybe I can incorporate some of the barre moves I've learned into a home workout routine instead.

On the health-related note, I have an idea for my September brave act! I don't like needles (even though I have tattoos), and I've been especially stressed lately, so I'm going to schedule my first ever acupuncturist visit in the next few weeks. I look forward to sharing an update on if that will become a regular visit. And in a few weeks, I can't wait to tell you about the next scary-themed brave act for October!
